Happy Tax Year

31 December 2007

Because just about every tax is going up, up, up in Maryland in 2008.  The property tax, income tax, sales tax, capital gains, cigarettes, you name it. There are even new taxes on junk food and computer services.  All in the name of Governor Martin “Chairman Mao” O’Malley’s brave new world.  Oh, and did you know he’s scheming to get on the ticket with Hillary? Yeah, that’s right.

When the federal government spends more each year than it collects in tax revenues, it has three choices: It can raise taxes, print money, or borrow money. While these actions may benefit politicians, all three options are bad for average Americans.      —Congressman Ron Paul

If you need a quick primer in what Ron Paul stands for:

Or go to his website,, and click on ‘issues.’

A great video– Air America host praises Ron Paul.

Jack Cafferty talks about the fact that Ron Paul’s platform is what Americans want, they just haven’t heard him because many elements in the media are trying to squelch him.

A fabulous video with quotes from Thomas Jefferson and Ron Paul.

(AND, it informed that Ron Paul has sponsored a bill in the House, HR 3835, to repeal the Military Commissions Act and restore HABEUS CORPUS!!!!)

My endorsement for 2008

29 December 2007

If you’ve ever visited my blog before, you know I support Ron Paul for president. I have become so convinced that he is absolutely the best man for the job that I’ve decided to write to everyone I know, personally, and ask them to vote for Ron Paul. I’m starting with my family, then friends.

My support for Dr. Paul has nothing to do with a cult of personality; indeed, I believe that as president he would actually work to scale back executive power, which is not only disproportionately large under the current administration, but is being exercised extremely poorly. In this regard, I think that a vote for any of the other so-called “front runners” next year would just be a vote for a new flavor of authoritarianism. I’m including a link to the Candidates@Google interview with Dr. Paul, because it is the most informative and wide-ranging I’ve seen. I don’t know how anyone could watch this video, think about the positions that he advocates, and not want this man to become the 44th president of the United States, and restore the ideals of the republic that our Founding Fathers set up.

MLK Day 2008

22 December 2007

Why not have the next Ron Paul fundraising day on Martin Luther King day? Seems there would be plenty of scope for linking him to the freedom platform, and it might go a long way towards disabusing people of the notion that Dr. Paul is somehow sympathetic to the white supremacists.

“…the aftermath of the GOP debates has taught us that the path to the Oval office is off-limits to any candidate who is not bought and paid for (lock, stock & barrel) by special interests and the corporate media. Barely a handful of pre-approved lackeys are selected and lavished with an overwhelming amount of media coverage while anyone who stands for real issues or offers a viable alternative is shunned, or even worse, censored.

When Paul’s name comes up in a discussion of candidates, one hears words like “wacky” & “deranged” being kicked around as often as “flamboyant” and “eccentric”.  Someone unfamiliar with the man couldn’t help but walk away thinking he was a member of Nicholson’s supporting cast from One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest.

For those who have managed to delve a little deeper, Paul’s message of getting government out of our personal lives, destroying the IRS and returning to a founding father foreign policy of avoiding foreign entanglements is clearly evergreen and craved for by a huge chunk of informed, engaged and active American citizens.
